Monkey Soup

Hey everyone,

Well I hope you all like the monkey soup. Ha-ha well it tasted pretty good. A lot of you asked if I really ate monkeys so here is your proof. Ha-ha.

Well the work is nice. We just had a zone conference with president squires and it was wonderful as always. After that yesterday was the district of Bo’s conference. We had almost 1000 people attend in Bo. It was really packed and it is amazing how many people showed up. Everyone likes conference but not church. ha-ha well we met a lot of less actives and investigators to start working with that have never come to church before. So plenty to do this week. Plus our baptism on Saturday should be interesting. Plus transfer news on Saturday should make it even funner. Ha-ha well it should be a nice week. The work is nice and I am loving the people that we are working with. We are still always in the search for more and didn’t have a lot of luck. But the conference should help find some people that can build up the church here. It should be great.

Well not much else happened this week. Just a lot of work and stuff. So here are my normal scripture freebies today:

Alma 1:2, 5:26, 4:19, 5, 6:1, 7:15, 7:23-24, 8:19, Matt 22:21, John 12:43, 13:14-15, 13:34-35, Luke 21:34, 22:32

Well I think that should give you enough to do this week. Ha-ha!! Well the work is sweet and I am looking forward to your letters and emails.

PS the other day the president of Sierra Leone came to Bo. Everything shut down and all flooded to the streets. Well he was waving from his big suv and he looked at me and my white companion and waved. So we waved back. Then a huge guy with a 50 cal machine gun made sure we didn’t have a weapon or something. And there were all kinds of AK 47's and big machine guns on the road. Pretty cool stuff for the men. Don’t cry girls I am still alive.

Looking Sharp

Elder Lamb - Kenema Bush River - Picture taken in April 2009Hey everyone,
Well my last email was sent unknowingly so I will start over again. I sent a photo of our past trip to the kenema bush. Hopefully it got there. I think that today’s email may end up a LITTLE rambling and off track but I will try my best. Sorry I just have a lot of things on my mind right now.
So things are going great and we are planning to have some baptisms in July which is nice. We just added 2 more families to our pool and are always looking for more. The lord is really blessing us in that area.
One minor set back is a new company called Tasly. They are a pyramid scheme and are playing on the innocent faithful hearts of this people. Mainly our branch mission leader. But we discussed with our branch presidency and they are working with him. He is going about telling people he has the cure for cancer and aids. When did that happen? Ha-ha so we are trying to help him from hurting himself also. He seems ok about it but is just too greedy so owell.
The work truly is nice and I love it. The area is nice and all is well. The rain is beating down and I am waiting for it to let up a little. Rainy season is finally here and it usually rains at least once a day. Most the time it has been in the night so we have been blessed. I just got my hair cut today so I am looking sharp as can be. Ha-ha
Well I will let you in on my personal studys of the week now.
Luke 10:25-37, 11:27-28, 11:49, 12:15, 12:34, 12:48, 14:11, 18:27, D&C 60:13, john 12:26, mosiah 26:13, 17:25-26, 27:31.
Well that’s about it for the week. I am doing great and looking forward to your letters.

Climbed the mountain - just because

Hey everyone,
Well today was pretty crazy. We did a nature hike type thing. Haha well sort of. We took motorcycles into the bush to a mountain and then decided to climb up it. Well we planned to do it for a while and now we did. So we hiked up the mountain and I nearly had a heart attack. Apparently when you get used to walking around all day it doesn’t keep you in very good shape. Yeah so anyways, we made it all the way up to the top and took some photos and stuff. We had a good time and our bike drivers had to join us on the hike. They just wanted to know what the heck we were doing climbing the mountain in the middle of the bush. So they followed us and were a lot worse off than us. Most likely because most drivers smoke weed and drink rum. So anyways they followed us up and then figured out that we weren’t really doing anything so they hiked back down. The chief of the village joined us for the hike and on the way back we decided to cut through the bush. So we took turns with the machete and I was having a blast chopping through the deep bush. We came back down and met our drivers who then took us home. We paid them like 7 dollars which is like 20,000 leones. Big money here haha. Yup so that is the adventure of the day.
On Saturday we were at our investigators house and a huge rain storm rolled in. as we were waiting it out lightening struck the house and all the lights came on for like 2 seconds. It was kinda cool actually if we weren’t all afraid for our lives. But we made it home safe and everything is fine.
Due to popular demand elder lamb’s freebe scripture finding answers has been requested back. So now you all get my best scriptures again and can see what I am studying.
Matthew 10:16, 10:33, 16:13-20, 18:12-13, 18:18, mark 8:36-37, 9:29. Luke 9:23-27, john 6:35, 53, And 66
Well that should be good for this week. My hands are getting a little tired from typing.
Oh yes one thing that we found in the bush is called buyeh. It is a wild tree only found in the bush. It is red and has seeds inside that have small flesh on them. You just suck on them and then if you drink the juice inside it will give you a rash. But the seeds are good? Well no rash yet so I guess that I will be alive maybe. Haha
Well we have about 10 people ready to be baptized in July so we are working really hard to start finding a lot of new people. Things are going really good and I am enjoying the work. I come home exhausted and sleep like a log. But all is well and I am keeping a good journal. Thanks for the support and I am looking forward to some letters and things. Thank you all!!!!!!

Insects, pizzas and burgers

Hey everyone,

Well I must admit, this past while has been amazing. The lord is truly blessing me and my companion for being obedient tools in his hand. I can say it is not me and my companion but Heavenly Father that is blessing us and making things so great.

We are adding to our pool and getting a bunch ready for their first covenant (Baptism). They are all doing so amazing and I am so happy with them. Our new branch presidency has been calling some great people to get callings and they are all doing so well and working hard. We are getting referrals like crazy and finding some great people who are so smart. I am so happy and I love it here.

My companion just turned one year and is doing well. He is kinda itching to move on and work harder as a senior companion and I think he will in July. We will see. We are enjoying a lot and working so hard.

We had a sweet zone conference on Friday and learned about the book of Mormon and how to use it better. I loved it and President gave a nice instruction on sanctification. I guess you could say I am working hard in that department. Feels so good though.

We were invited to the branch presidency training where we now know what is expected of the leaders to help them make the church better. We are working with them and I am excited for this branch. We are doing so well.

Well sorry gpa lamb. But they just opened the only hamburger joint in a 6 hour drive of anywhere. You can get a hamburger and fries and even steak. Let’s just say that elder lamb’s budget doesn’t cover that kind of expenditure. But I had to try a hamburger at least once within the last year. Ha-ha!! Well I am not rejecting any donations to the hamburger fund. Ha-ha!! I am just kidding - I like letters more than burgers. hint hint!!(Sab's Restaurant = real burgers, steak, cheesecake and almost anything you can think of. Only a burger is 5 dollars and a steak is 14. Too much for me. I am broke lol.)

Well this week I was also attacked by a champion in my sleep. Yep, I was asleep and under my mosquito net. Then I woke up with a huge blister on my arm. So I asked around and found out there is an insect here that walks on you and poops acid on you. Then you get a nasty sweet acid burn on your arm. Not to bad though I guess. I hosed down our room with insect killer and I haven’t been attacked yet.

We live next to a nice couple that are in the church. They rent the house next to the church. Well it was their 26th wedding anniversary so me and Elder Albright kicked up the oven and fixed them 2 pizzas. They were so happy and excited and the smile on their faces made it all worth it. It was so nice.

Well I think that is about it for the week. Things are great and I love it here. I am so lucky to be doing the Lords work and I give all the glory to him.

Kicking some butt!! (in a good way)

Hey everyone,

Well I hope that you are all doing well. As for me, things couldn’t be better. We have some great people that we are working with and we are really kicking some butt here. We are working extra hard and doing our best.

The mango season is now here and I normally eat like 3 a day. Me and my companion got more creative and made breadsticks. They were so delicious. Things are going good and I even learned how to kill a chicken. Pretty fun ha-ha. I made a video in case anyone else needs to learn. Ha-ha pretty gory.

Well we have seen the water level rise like crazy. Our shortcut has been flooded for a while and we have to pull our shoes and cross barefoot. Ha-ha well it’s not the bad and makes a nice photo opportunity.

One thing I learned about the people here that is pretty crazy. Most children and young girls have beads around their neck and waist. I figured it out finally. They say that it will make them get a nice waist and a beautiful face. Pretty crazy huh. We tried to teach our member it did nothing and she would not believe us. We asked where she saw that in any scripture. She just follows the tradition so owell. Funny stuff.

I just finished the Book of Mormon again and I am already starting it again. But I am working on the New Testament at the same time. It should help since everyone believes and knows the bible so well. And it has been a while since I have been all the way through.

I love the Book of Mormon so much though and I wish it was the only thing I had to know. But the rest of the scriptures are good also and I need to dedicate more time to them. All is well and I am doing my best. Me and my companion are getting along so well and working very hard. Our new member of the district is ok and needs to be trained on obedience a little but we are working on it. Our baptism on sat was cancelled and she needs a little more time to get ready and work out a few things. But she will make it eventually and I know all is going to be well.

Well the work is sweet and I am loving it. Thank you for the letters. I received the mail on Wednesday as president was headed to Liberia. I helped him pack all the bags on the roof of his suv and it was funny. They had a nice long drive with those elders who are going to Liberia but they made it ok and are doing well.

Things are great and keep writing. I reply to every letter I get.
