Lesson in Krio, Bull Elks, and mail!!

How di bodi?
Osh ya da cafe done pwel yesterday and I no get chance for write una all. So I deh na ya today for wright um.
Ha-ha interpret that krio mess. Ha-ha
(How are you? Sorry the cafĂ© was down yesterday and I didn’t get a chance to write at all. So I do it today to write some. – He said that this was close)

First I want you to all know I have the best family in the world. I was shocked with 2 more great packages that really made me happy and uplifted. Thank you also for the letters. It is like my grandmas are fighting to see who can write more than the other and I love all the letters. Thank you.

Well the week has been nice. Yesterday we got the cord replaced and the pump fixed so we have lights and water again. It is nice and I am glad I will be able to study at night again. But I still worked on it as much as I could bear this week and found some nice scriptures.
*Alma 22: 15-18 have you surrendered your sins to have the wicked spirit rooted out of you?
*1 timothy 6:7-8
*Alma 24:11 when we repent god will always forgive us and help us forget them
*Alma 24:17 and 19 would you bury all your sins and then rather die than do them again?
*2 Nephi 26:8 we must be steadfast no matter what
*2 Nephi 26:24 everything is for our benefit.

One thing I would like to share is what my mission president talked on. He said young men and women are in the "rut" of their lives. Then he used the bull elk to describe. The elk is a smart animal and not easy to get close to. But during the rut he is crazy. All you have to do is call him in and a small little arrow will take him down. Nothing more than a small shaft of metal. Now he used that for us. We are in the rut of our life. When we are letting those crazy thoughts run our lives then all Satan has to do is call us away slowly then the arrow will eventually get us. Well I have seen it to much here and I know what it means to be called in. So all you young and old people watch out. Satan is working his best to hunt more of gods children.

Well I am sorry if I sounded sad last week. I was. But I am doing better now and I am still giving my all. The work is not easy to cover 4 elders work but we are doing our best and I am happy for a good companion who is there to always help me.

I love all of you and I love your letters too. ;) The work is sweet and I am grateful for my family.

Misc info from a week in Africa

Misc info from emails:
*the only new thing is that we fixed the generator finally so we have lights for a few hours everynight. it is something you just learn to go without for a while but everything is fine.
*my gmail is retarded today. the cafe here is annoying but whatever
*the little ones are awesome. the elders are breaking commandments and coveting them. Lol (I sent him some speakers – and Brenton and Casey were coveting the small one – so it must be good – Radio Shack rocks!!)
*ha ha dont plan on putting me in that schedule. i am so tired of cleaning everything i just quit one week and everyone wondered why the apartment was so dirty but now everything is worked out so i dont have to do it all. (I told him about how the kids have to take turns doing dishes)
*Zone conference was great. i wish i had more time with my interview but it was nice to have a little kick to keep going and happy.
*7 home. one came back from surgery and the other transfered to the south africa mission. so in total 10 elders ended early. only half of my 10 mtc mates will go home with me. (I know there was some confusion about how many Elders have actually been sent home – At Christmas he had mentioned 9 – so this was to clarify)
* yeah well it isnt easy but the work must go on. it does suck to pick up all the slack and fix everything but thats what i do best so i just have to keep the head down and keep pushing. i will not be nerdy RM. that is known as nerdism and it is genetic. i havent become a dork. just spiritual and smarter.
*(I love you and am so proud of you!! I am so lucky to be your mom!! Be obedient!!) technically i am lucky to be your son. i love you too. thank you for being the person you are.

How's the weather??

Weather: still a million degrees and hot. Ha ha well rainy season should be here next month so maybe it will cool off a few degrees here.

Temple: I miss the temple like nothing. I wish that I could just get on the 5 day bus journey across the bush and go with my members but I can’t and I have to wait until next year for that. I am excited for some members who just went a few weeks ago from wellington branch. They are all doing well according to Elder Michael.

When is zone conference and transfers?: zone interviews are on Friday. I hope the package comes then. Transfers are the 15th of April.

Teaching
: well the same 2 families that I am excited about. They should be baptized right before transfer so we will see.

Why is everyone Muslim: the Muslims just ran the country and everyone just was for a long time. There weren’t even Christians for a long time. I don’t really know the deep history about it.

Sweet Scriptures for the week

Hello Everyone,
Well I should just get the bad news off of my mind, so here we go. 3 more elders were sent home yesterday for breaking mission rules. My former companion Elder Karnga was one of them. Luckily it was before I met him, but still sad for me at the same time. It’s not easy to let something like that go but I just have to press on and do my best. The grand total is now 10 elders have been sent home. I am saddened to see so many elders go but the lord is watching over us.
Ok - so I got the sadness away. Now for the fun stuff. The generator is fixed now. But the cord melted and we have no more money so we have been in darkness all week and most likely all the coming week. Fun stuff I know. Also the water pump broke again so all our water comes from pulling a bucket out of the deep well. Sweet Salone!!
But I did find some sweet scriptures this week so I will share the good ones this week.
Alma 5, the whole thing. Make sure you are honest and think a good long time about it.
Alma 8:19, best way for an elder to ask for a free dinner ;)
Alma 13:3-4 all priest hood holders were foreordained and must have great faith.
2 Nephi 5 :27 the gospel is true happiness
Jacob 4:8 study as much as you can!
Alma 17:11 you must be an example at all times
Alma 17:29 what chance has the lord given you to show his power through you?
Alma 19:33 our hearts must be changed for doing good to repent.
2 Nephi 10:23 choose today.
Well I think that should be good for this week, I tried to send some photos but the computer is slow today so it’s a maybe. Ha-ha (No pictures – the computer was too slow)
The work is sweet and I am happy to be here and to give my all. It is not easy some days but I never thought it would be so all is well. Thank you for the support and prayers. Maybe you can add my grandma and family along with my strong uncle Wynn. My trials are much smaller than the ones they are faithfully conquering at the time. Thanks for all that you do and keep writing some letters I love to read them.

The work is sweet!!

Elder Lamb with Mission President's Vehicle
Hey Everyone,

Well satan did his best and he lost so all is well. This week was rather fun. After our zone conference with Elder Cardon things just went down hill. I dont know why. First our water pump died so we have no water unless we walk like 3 blocks to a well. So I didn’t shower for 3 days. Then the generator motor blew up cause no one but me checks the oil and I wasnt there to do it this week. Then the branches are just falling more and more away and I wont share the details. But overall I am doing great.
My scripture study really lifted me up this week and I am doing fine so no worries. I found some nice ones this week.
Mosiah 25: 24 -- we can only get the spirit when we take the sacrament weekly and repent.
Matthew 15:11 -- how do you explain this to an investigator who brings it up right after your lesson on the word of wisdom? ha ha fun one.elder neil l anderson- "you know enough" faith is not only a feeling, it is a decision.
Alma 32:42-43 -- work hard and reap the benefits.
Alma 37:44-46 -- following Christ is easy when you make the choice to do it.
One story I thought was funny this week was that we were teaching a recent convert the other day. Her sister lives with her and just had a baby. During the lesson the sister was walking by doing something strange. My companion was very distracted and so I looked, she was milking herself into a cup. Ya!! No joke!! She brought the cup over and there was a good amount there. Just a random taste of what africa is like. Haha
Well the work is sweet and I am working very hard. I don’t even know where this crazy week went. It seems like I was just here at the cafe and its already monday again. Well the time must fly when all you have to think about is the gospel and who to teach it to. All is well in the bush and the picture is of my mission presidents vehicle. I forgot to tell my mom so now she knows. Haha
Thanks for the support and keep writing!

Living in Africa

My New African Apartment!!
--Not really ;)
ha ha this was in the bush for a service project a few weeks ago
This is my canoe.
Kinda like the one I took across the bay in Freetown the first time I was there.
lol

Misc Info

It is so hot still. March is the death month. All plants wither and everyone is naked outside since it is so hot. Very annoying to be proselyting with the spirit but the lord is blessing me with that one.

We go to the bank for money every 3 weeks. Supplies come with president every other zone conference. The Petersons used to bring them but the changed right before I came. The lazenbys went home last week and we are getting a new couple this week named the Johnsons I think. They are from Gilbert AZ.

Also we are getting a missionary from Denver named spencer tippits. and then in June a missionary named spencer Lowe from Santaquin is coming to the mtc and our mission in early July. I am so excited.

Osh ya (sorry)

Hey everyone,
Osh ya. (sorry). This week the cafe was closed on monday since it is Mohamed’s birthday. That is the organizer of the Muslim religion and I am in a Muslim country so nothing was really open yesterday. Which sucks for elders.
But today was amazing and I met with elder Cardon on the 2nd quorum of the 70. He came to instruct us and I learned so much from him. I wish I could be half as spiritual as him and his wife. They are so nice and caring and truly love everyone. We learned a lot about faith and committing people and how it is a door for them to continue on the straight and narrow path. It was so nice and I have to go and study the scripture references more after this.
This week has been great and no more snakes or baptisms planned soon. ha ha we have a few amazing families who are coming up soon though and I am excited for them. It is amazing to see the light of Christ turn to the spirit and work in these people’s lives. It is amazing and I love it. I hope you enjoy the pictures and I will keep trying so send some from now on.
The scriptures have truly gotten me addicted to them and I have a lot of studying for you today.
First
Mosiah 5:13 to serve him we must know him first.
Mosiah 5:8 to take upon the name of Christ implies we will do all we can to become perfect like him.
Mosiah 16:8-13 good receive good and bad receive bad. Repent now!
Mosiah 17:9-12 abinadi gave a strong testimony that shook the king and he almost changed until his friends talked him out of it. What are your friends saying to you?
Romans 2:11 we are all equal.
Mosiah 23:21 patience is a test of our faith and we need more of it.Well I hope you enjoyed the week and all that you can learn from the scriptures. I have loved them so much and there is always more to learn!

Elder Lamb looks so hot!!! ;)

One hot and sweaty Elder Lamb standing in front of sign board at Chapel in Bo
(Can you imagine what his apartment must smell like?? - One word: GROSS!)

Bisseh, cow we ena????

Hey Everyone,
Well I can tell that some of you are learning small krio from this blog so I will add mende this week. boah, - bisseh, cow we ena? - cow we goma. that is hello, - thanks hello, how are you, - tell god thank you.
Just a little lesson for you this week. Maybe I will add timne next week. ha ha
Well no snakes or baptisms this week. Just the same sweet missionary work. I am very excited for a few families that I have been working with. They are doing so well and the spirit is so strong in our lessons. As I was hearing from my missionary friends they were saying how they have few lessons a week. I then realized how lucky I am to teach over 20 every week. I have loved to teach these people. Sometimes it can be very frustrating and hard but the reward is so sweet. I am touching so many lives and I love the work here.
My companion and I are due for another transfer together and the news came Saturday to confirm. We will be there for at least 6 more weeks. Only one other change in our apartment will happen. One Liberian named dolo is replacing another missionary. He is in my mtc and has hated all white people since the first of his mission. It should be interesting so I think that I will be able to master the scriptures more this transfer. I don’t mind since I love to read the scriptures. Speaking of scriptures I will give you my few insights that I had this week.
mosiah 2:22-24 just a nice reminder that we are all nothing and all is gods. We need to be more grateful for the things that we have been blessed with. Even our bodys is gods.
ha ha
mosiah 2:34-41 when we sin we are actually fighting against our heavenly father. the spirit cannot be there and we are doing something very stupid and making our selves have a tougher life.
helaman 5:47 faith is where true peace comes from.
moroni 9:6 labor diligently. we should give our all, all the time
mosiah 4:29-30 for our whole life we are expected to keep our minds clean. I hope you have found a nice scripture to memorize or a good hymn to help you overcome satans thoughts that enter sometimes.
This week we were able to do a zone service project and we went to a school and did some serious labor. It was fun and we enjoyed our time.
One family we have been teaching is called the Gbories, Elizabeth was just baptized and her husband is close. Tey are competing with each other to see who can learn more. It is hilarious to teach them and they both are trying so hard. It is nice for me and they are learning a lot.
They have a game called stone ball that is like dodge ball. Only they have no dodge balls so they rap up some plastic into a ball and there is one in the middle. Yeah well I am the champ so far and have yet to be beaten.
Today we had a zone super pday and we all played a nice game of football. It was fun but my ankle took a nice beating. Thank goodness my mom packed like a million pain killers in my suitcase when I left. ha ha thanks mom I love you!
Well all is well and I will be fine. We did win by the way and I had a great workout for once.
I am glad that my dad got his job back again and I hope he can keep it longer this time. I know the lord is watching over us so all is well and no worries.
