The Snake Killer LIVES ON!!!

Hey Everyone,
Well things are going great out here in the bush. I think that our generator is dead again and the repairman has chicken pox so we have been in the dark sometimes. Haha! Well that’s ok I guess.
Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving as a zone and had chicken and gravy and potatoes and fruit and no bake cookies and banana bread. It was the biggest feast I have ever had in Africa and NO RICE!! Thank you mom for teaching me how to cook small.
We had our zone meeting. The Elders who are lazy are still lazy and it looks like the meeting didn’t do much for them. Its annoying but they have the correct principle. Now they must govern themselves, and stop being so crazily trunky. Elder Yardley printed off pictures of his somewhat girlfriend. Well he is very trunky now. As for me I am holding in there small small and studying to keep my mind occupied. Not that I have much spare time anyways.
We decided to do some service for a member who cut down her tree. So we offered to come and cut it into fire wood. We ended up with like 20 blisters from the homemade axe and machete. It was a nice project and I only got one new scar from it. Haha no worries though I am ok.
The other day we were teaching and a snake popped up next door. Luckily there was a machete lying around. So I grabbed it and started the execution. Quite literally. He just put his head right on the tree so perfect that I cut it clean off. It was a nice shot. And don’t worry I am still unbitten. Haha for now. The snake killer lives. So you better watch out Larry. If you steal my truck from john you could be next. Haha
All is well and I am working hard. The time is starting to dawn on me since Christmas is almost here. It makes me sad and at the same time more willing to work hard. It’s like the last few laps of the Indy 500. Just put the pedal down and go. That’s what I will do.
Next week I will be in Freetown for a meeting so hopefully I can send a few pics.
Thanks to all of you who write and send things. I love you all and good thing that Mel is ok and just needs vitamins. Haha

Goalie - PYRO - and Noahs Ark

Hey Everyone,
Well this week has gone by quick. The transfer news is that I am still in this area and that me and Elder Degen are remaining the same. My apartment got 2 new additions. Elder Amegayie from Ghana who is the most trunky next to Elder Yardley. And then Elder Visser from Iowa. He is really new and is pretty funny. I enjoy having him in the same apartment with me. He is almost as tall as me but just a hair shorter. Hopefully I don’t shrink. Elder Tippets from Colorado also joined our zone. He has put on a little weight on mission but he is also a nice addition. Not much else happened.
We were teaching a man who has word of wisdom problems. We tried to teach him that he must follow the prophet. So we used the example of Noah and the ark. I asked him, “What did the people do when Noah began to build the ark?” He replied, they went and toileted inside to stop him. I have no idea where that crazy idea came from but it made me laugh for a very long time. I just couldn’t stop laughing like crazy. When we finally calmed down we asked him to show us in the bible. Of course he couldn’t and just went off about nothing like he normally does. It was a funny day.
Today we had our weekly soccer practice. We are playing Freetown this transfer for our Christmas party so we have to practice and make sure we win. Anyways I scored another goal today. But now that our old goalie left on transfer I am half the time then another elder is the rest of the time. I don’t like goalie too much, but I like playing defense where I can run into people and stuff. Haha
Well not much else. Maybe you would be interested in what we do with trash here. Most people just throw it on the street but in our compound we have a hole that we fill then burn. Well I decided to be a pyro and burn some today. As I was burning the trash I failed to realize that there were a lot of explosive empty bottles and spray cans. Well we had a minor fireworks show and I thought it was cool but the neighbors came and started yelling at the gate asking what the heck was going on in there. We had it under control so they left us alone after a while. It was pretty funny.
Well not much else is happening over here. Just a lot of sunshine and hard work. We are happy with the people we have but are always looking for more. Hopefully the Lord provides. Well I am out of time now so until next week. I love you all and thank you for your support of the Lord’s work.

Chicken in the closet

Hey everyone,
How are you this week? I am doing well out here in the bush still. President wants to try a new system here. Instead of the normal transfer news on Saturday before you leave it is now on Tuesday night - the day before transfer. I am fine with it because I know that I am not going anywhere. Well at least I don’t think so. Well some elders weren’t to happy with it and some quick packing will have to be done tomorrow for some of them. But that is part of life and hopefully things go well for them.
Elder Yardley is a little angry with me but it wasn’t my fault. I forgot to tell this story last week. We came home to collect a few things from the church driver Marcus. We left the door open to go grab things from the truck. Well when we were done we were dropping off letters in each elder’s room. Well a chicken found its way into Elder Yardley’s room. We closed the door for a while and before we left again we went to check on it. Well he disappeared. So we searched and lo and behold he was on Elder Yardley’s clothes in his closet. So we closed the door and locked it in. We came back in the evening and Elder Yardley opened up his closet. Well he didn’t see it at first. So I came with my camera and made a classic video of him cursing me and telling me that he is going to kill me. The best part was after we got the chicken out and Elder Yardley started cleaning out his closet. He found an egg that the chicken had laid. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Today also we were playing soccer. We were down one goal with 8 minutes left. Elder Yardley shot a ball but the goalie knocked it out of the goal. So it was a corner kick. They called in the back up. Me. I ran in and they kicked the ball. With my ridiculous height I was able to jump all the way up and hit the ball straight in the goal to tie the game. No one else scored after that, but I saved us from our first loss. We play in Bo zone about every Monday against the branch missionaries. Today they pulled out the ringers but we were right there with them. We are practicing to go and play Freetown zone in the Christmas conference on December 10-13. We will wail on them.
We caught the Pyne family walking out of their new apostate church. Pastor Benjamin has done well with them, but I call him pb and j. Haha!! Well Brother Pyne looked like he was going to explode with fear when he saw me walk up to him and ask why he didn’t come to church today. He was shaking from head to foot. It was a sad experience as I thought about what he would look like before Jesus Christ someday. Hopefully the Book of Mormon will save him.
We have one family named the Kenewas. They are amazing and have saved me. They are in total about 8. Well it depends on the week. They are all starting to come to church and because of our great members helping teach he already wants to be baptized. It is amazing and I am excited for them.
Well not much else this week. I am doing good and working hard. I want to say thanks to all of you supporting the Thanksgiving and Christmas party. Thank you for the letters also and I can’t wait for more.
I love you all

Elder Lamb = Hard worker

Working hard to beautify Africa one wheelbarrow at a time

Proof that Elder Lamb does a lot of walking!

Trick or treating - African style

Hey Everyone,
How are you this week? Well things are very hectic for me yet again as they always seem to be now. We are in Freetown and it is late so this wont be to long. We had our zone leaders meeting with President Squires and he has instructed us well how to lead the Lords work here. I always love these meetings. They are just so nice all the time. Afterwards we got to eat Sister Squires amazing meatloaf and gravy and mashed potatoes. A big cushe (good job) to her.
Well the week has been very quick. We had to make a quick run out to Kenema to do some interviews and a lot of other things like that. It was a very quick trip and my knees still ache from the 2 car rides and the bus to town today plus we get to take it back out to the bush tomorrow. What a busy life I live. I did get some letters though so hopefully I will find a little time to read them. Thank you all for writing I love it!!!!!!
Well we also had to celebrate Halloween so we went to new London apartment and did a little trick or treating as Muslims. Then we came home and carved pumpkins. They actually have them here only they are small different. But thats ok because we still carved them. Haha!! Well the work is nice and I am loving it. The elders really liked carving the pumpkins and it really brought a great unity in our district. Also all the elders love dodgeball even though many of them have never played it before. We are trying to get more creative and things like that. Thanksgiving is coming up and we are planning something nice so hopefully we can enjoy. The Christmas party in Freetown will be the 10-13th of December so that will also be amazing. Well not much else I can remember and I need to get to bed. Night

Baptism of Joseph Davies

***Baptism of Joseph Davies - Elder Lamb with Elder Degen

Well I decided to share the story of Joseph Davies with a good friend and now you all can hear it.

He was a strong member of his other church. But my friend and former companion contacted him and started teaching. He took it well and was a very humble man. He never spoke much, but had a deep understanding. Something that is very hard to find here. He truly latched on the gospel when we used our wise Mission Presidents amazing advice to use members to help us teach. It just so happened a recent convert worked with him and was his friend. They instantly became a strength to each other and helped each other work hard. He then became strong and did almost anything that we asked. Which is also hard to find here. Through one good friend he made a firm grasp in the gospel soil. I was grateful to be the one to baptize him and happy because I know that he is strong in the gospel and now has the Holy Ghost on his side.

On the other hand we have one family who is less active now. The elders did very well teaching them and then they got baptized and all was well. Then Satan got the better half. A pastor from another church came and offered to sponsor them if they came to his church. Now they are full fledged members of this great apostasy that we live in today. The Pyne family may have fallen, but I believe with a few members testimonies and a few great stories of the Book of Mormon we can get them back. The other day we met Mr. Pastor Benjamin at their house. He felt very awkward about the whole thing. And now we will keep our presence known and never give up in this only true cause. I know that they will be back someday. It will be a long hard shameful road, but they will be back. Even if it isn’t me that gets them there.

Well that should be good. Keep after the lord’s work and make sure you choose the right even when older people around you aren’t.

18 MONTHS!!!!

Lesson in Krio: me back I don feel say you deh na oues for work them computer things them. cushe mommy

Hey Everyone,
Well we have had a very busy week that just seemed to fly by again. Somehow we just run out of time and end up at the internet cafe and its Monday all over again. I guess it’s nice to have the time fly. But I just wish I could remember more of it.
We had a super pday today. Well are still in the middle of it. We played dodge ball this morning and the elders just couldn’t help to add a little soccer after. We all had a great time and it was a little different from the same old same old. We also had a zone dinner last night in memory of my Grandma Spencer’s bday, being sealed to my family in the temple and my 18 month mark. I made mashed potatoes and gravy and chicken for the whole zone. They were all very happy and want to tell my mom thanks for training me a little in the ways of the kitchen.
Well last Monday we went out to Kenema and had a nice exchange with those elders. They are doing great and working hard out there so no worries. I got to go with Elder Grabau from Texas. Wee had a great day and he is a great elder. We really enjoyed our time together.
On Saturday we had a baptism. Joseph Davies was baptized by me. Cushe to you Bryce(former Elder Rogers). Well he is doing great and it was a wonderful baptism. The other elders in the zone reenacted the waters of Mormon and Alma baptizing the multitudes. So we get to train them that they shouldn’t have so many people at once. Its ok I guess... oh the joys of leading people. Haha!!
Next week we get to watch conference. I am very excited and hopefully my magazine will come soon enough. I am soo excited! Our church time just rotated again. Now we are at 8 in the morning. It should be a challenge to get people on time again. But owell.
Well the reading is coming along fine and we are still tricking our people into reading so here you go with the bait this week.
Alma 1;25, 5all, 7;8-13, 23, 13;3, 17all, 18all.
Alma 17 and 18 is how we are getting people hooked. They love stories like crazy over here so we are reading them very slowly with them to see if it helps. It takes a long time and a lot of patience but we will see if the book with a promise comes through yet again. I know it will.
Well all is well and I am excited to continue the Lords work. It is amazing the strength that the Lord gives and I am so happy with what he has done for me and is still doing everyday.
Thank you all for the letters and all that you do. I love you all and can’t wait for more letters. Haha well keep sending them at least. Thank you all so much.
